September is fast approaching, and it is obvious that this will be a school year unlike any other. We are concerned when we see how the number of COVID-19 cases is steadily climbing, but we also feel for the many musicians in our community who are feeling isolated. We believe we have found a way to continue to offer our group fiddle classes *in person* which fills our hearts with joy. There is just no digital substitute for making music with other live human beings!
There are, however, members of the community who are at greater risk, or who do not feel comfortable in a group setting just yet. There are also many students living in communities where fiddle groups have had to stop meeting.
We have a solution! We will allow students who live outside Nanaimo, and local students who are in a high-risk category, to attend our fiddle repertoire classes via Zoom. You can benefit from the experience of learning tunes by ear in a group setting and continue to grow your tune repertoire from the comfort of your own home.
We meet on Thursday afternoons from September 17 until the first Thursday in June. Registration will open on this site on September 1st.
Please note that those people with a strong internet connection have the best experience with Zoom classes, so be sure to contact your service provider to ask about your options.
